Keep cool in xams

It’s that time of year again when exams are just a few weeks away and everyone is battling to look fresh, stay alert and on top of things. You have classes to attend and hours of studying afterwards await you. So how do you fight that fatigue and look good at the same time? Here are some easy steps which will help you.

Don’t remain in one position for too long. When you sit down to study, don’t keep working while sitting in the same position. This will drain you of your energy. Get up every one hour if only to walk around the room. If you are working on a computer, look around you to give your eyes a break.

Have a glass of water and then start working again. Water is essential and you should have at least six to eight glasses a day. Liquid intake is necessary if you want to keep your skin looking young and vibrant. Intense work without liquids makes the skin look sallow.

Never carry your classroom stress back with you. Concentrate on the subject syllabus. Don’t worry about how you’re going to cope with all that study material. Make a schedule for yourself and follow it through.

Did you know that even a 10-minute nap has the power to refresh you? Cushion your head on your arms, close your eyes and stretch your legs. You can do this after every hour or so while you are sitting at your study table.

At night, make sure you get at least six hours of sound sleep. A glass of hot milk taken at bedtime may help. A bath before going to bed is a good way of winding down from the stress of the day. Avoid watching television before bedtime. Listen to your favourite light music and do not to take unnecessary medicines like sleeping pills.

For a constant flow of energy, your body needs a proper diet. Try to avoid foods rich in oil. Don’t live off junk food. Fruits and green vegetables are essential if you want to rev up those concentration levels.

Take some time off to exercise. Walk, dance or go for a run. It all counts. Keep your study times short and frequent Study for short bursts of no longer than two hours and then take a break. Never force yourself to study when you don’t want to. Take a breather and come back to the subject at hand
